Upload a vector, choose its physical width, and give each region the depth it needs. All geometry processing happens on your device.
Prepare your file
SVG: filled paths and visible strokes are supported. Outline text, expand symbols, and release clipping masks. Bitmap images are omitted with a warning.
Illustrator AI: save with “Create PDF Compatible File” enabled. Choose Type → Create Outlines for live text. Expand gradients and masks. Select an artboard when the file has more than one.
DXF: use ASCII 2D DXF with closed lines, polylines, arcs, circles, or ellipses. Explode blocks, outline text, and convert splines to polylines. Unsupported entities are reported.
Set dimensions and select regions
Width and height stay proportional. The unit selector changes the display between millimeters, centimeters, and inches. Drag the 3D view to orbit and scroll to zoom. The Top view uses an orthographic camera and displays width and height dimension lines; drag to pan. Click a region in the Paths view, 3D view, or region list. Shift-click selects multiple regions. Use its eye control to exclude a region from the preview and export.
The default extrusion applies to regions without an override. A selected region can have its own height, or you can reset it to the default. With a backing plate enabled, extrusion is measured above the plate. The total model height is the backing thickness plus the tallest extrusion.
Choose your output
STL: binary solid mesh; coordinates in millimeters; no color or unit metadata.
3MF: solid mesh package with explicit millimeter units. No printer settings or region colors.
OBJ: mesh geometry in millimeter coordinates, without MTL materials.
GLB: binary glTF with meter units, Y-up orientation, and a simple material palette. Turn combining off to keep regions separate.
STEP / STP: CAD solids with millimeter units. Curved vector outlines are approximated by straight segments at the selected detail level. This export may take longer and loads its CAD engine only when needed.
Understand the geometry
Holes in compound paths remain holes. Overlapping filled regions are treated as overlapping solids, so a white shape is not automatically a cutout. Use a compound path for a hole. “Combine solids” unites overlapping regions; artwork with gaps can still contain separate pieces. Add a backing plate to connect them.
Limits and troubleshooting
Files are limited to 10 MB and 200 regions. Very detailed artwork may need simplification. If the browser reports a timeout, reduce curve detail or split the source artwork. You can cancel long conversions and export again. Always inspect your output dimensions in the destination application.
Keyboard and navigation
Use Tab to reach the region list and controls, Enter or Space to select, and Shift-click for multiple regions. Undo and redo are available on the toolbar and with Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z. Changing format combinations keeps your current artwork in memory. Reloading or leaving the converter clears it.
You can enter dimensions in the form that makes sense for the drawing. The expressions 1 3/4 in and 1 + 3/4in both evaluate to one and three-quarter inches. The expression 3mm + 1 in adds a metric offset to an imperial length. Unitless numbers use the selected display unit. Read the evaluated result before moving on, especially when copying a measurement from a drawing that mixes fractions, decimals, and units.
Changing the display from inches to millimeters is different from changing the physical width. Check a known dimension in the top view, then verify the exported size in your receiving software. STL and OBJ do not enforce physical units across applications; TinyJig writes their coordinates in millimeters. GLB uses meters, while 3MF and STEP explicitly describe their millimeter units. An importer’s default can make a correctly generated file appear unexpectedly large or small.
Keep useful edits and remove unwanted regions
Region controls start collapsed so the workspace stays manageable. Open the region you want to adjust and set its extrusion height. Reset it to the default when it should follow the global value again. Hiding excludes geometry without removing the region from the document. Deleting removes the region, and Undo can recover that edit while the editor is open. Review the result after removing a region that overlapped another shape or helped connect separate pieces.
The converter keeps your current document in memory while switching input and output combinations within the workspace. It does not automatically store the uploaded artwork for your next visit. Download the models you want before navigating away. In the sheet-metal workspace, use Save project to create a local project file when you need to retain editable bends and sketch operations, then use Open to continue that project later.
Decide whether the part needs extrusion or bending
The vector converter builds depth perpendicular to a flat outline. Its Z rotation turns the outline in the XY plane; dragging the camera only changes the viewing angle. Use the separate sheet-metal tool for a flat blank that needs straight bends, internal tabs, or edge flanges. That workspace uses material thickness and bend radius, provides flat and formed views, and offers supplier-related checks. It does not recreate a complete constrained sketch workbench or simulate the entire press-brake operation.
